We were travelling with my husband and our 18 months old daughter this July to Jasper. We have booked the house long before, mentioning that we were a party of two from the point that our toddler did not need anything extra: a bed or a high chair, space or breakfast. As we came to Jasper and found the house within the required check-in time, we were rejected by the owner Rita Hindle because we brought a toddler with us. Not a single word mentions children being not allowed on the homepage of the house. We were refused to stay. The owner told Jasper was fully booked, so we would most likely not find any alternative accommodation. The only thing she proposed was to seek help at the tourist information or us to speak directly with another couple, which was about to arrive. Just imagine how would you feel if you were that other couple, having to decide the destiny of a young family, begging if they could stay! I was on the verge of tears, we felt we were treated unjustly and very cold-hearted.

Great location to walk to restaurants. Peaceful garden and house. Rita was very helpful, informative and friendly. Breakfast was healthy and filling. Bagels, fruit, yogurt and granola and coffee. Would definitely stay again!

We asked for help at the tourist Info and they got us a place to stay. We let Rita immediately know that we were staying elsewhere. To our great surprise, we discovered that our credit card was charged for two full nights, although we did not cancel our reservation, wanted to stay at the Gingerbread house and showed up in time. We first considered it to be a mistake, but Rita has responded that she told us she will charge us for the nights when it stayed vacant and she found someone for the third night. Neither I nor my husband could recall her mentioning anything about the payment on the evening we came and we can not prove weather the room remained vacant. We did not even step over the door sill and had to pay for it. Asking for further explanations remained not answered. I would not recommend this place to anybody.
